POSITION TITLE:   School Counselor  for the 2026-2027 School Year

 

JOB DETAILS:  190 Days - Certified Salary Schedule

 

LOCATION(S):    Emerson ES

 

START DATE:      July 27, 2026

                           

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implements or assists with implementation of a developmental counseling and guidance program
considering school needs
• Conducts individual counseling in areas of educational and personal need as referred by staff,
family, or self
• Conducts group counseling in identified areas
• Conducts classroom activities to support instruction, educational transition, career awareness
and personal development
• Assists with administration of standardized group testing
• Maintains and provides as needed records, reports and transcripts to support student functions,
activities, and graduation
• Consults and coordinates staff, parents, and community resources
• Assists in implementing crisis management plans
• Provides information to students and parents on career awareness and life development
• Possesses and maintains valid and appropriate license, certificate, and/or credential as may be
required for this position
• Participates in the Student Support Team process as designated
• Follows federal and state laws as well as policies of the Bartow County Board of Education and
School System
• Maintains prompt and regular attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned

 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING:  Must hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Professional Standards Commission certificate in School Counseling.

 

SKILLS:   Ability and knowledge to effectively work as a counselor at any school level. Proficient planning, organizational and communication skills – oral & written

 

EXPERIENCE:  No previous experience required.
