Position Title: Paraprofessional - PreK for the 2024-2025 School Year

Start Date: December 2, 2024
Job Description: Assists classroom teacher in all activities including instruction, personal care of students, preparation of lesson materials and evaluation of student’s progress. Assists teacher with preparation of materials for instruction within the content limitations of system curriculum guides. Helps the teacher implement a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students. Assists students in boarding and deboarding the school bus and in all aspects of personal care. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities. Assists the teacher with school-wide supervision, such as hallways, lunchrooms, playgrounds and loading/unloading buses. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance. Perform other duties as requested and required.
Education, Certification or Training: High school diploma or GED. Must hold or be eligible to hold a Georgia Paraprofessional License through the Georgia Processional Standards Commission.
Skills: Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment, including handling of confidential matters. Physical demands – must be able to stand and walk a minimum of six hours; lift, carry and pull 25 pounds and up to 150 pounds. Ability and knowledge to work as part of a classroom team to support student/classroom learning and activities. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience: Previous experience working in the classroom preferred.
