POSITION: Equipment Maintenance Specialist - 236 Days
JOB LOCATION: Central Office - Multiple Locations
START DATE: September 1, 2024
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Organizes and prioritizes work and uses time effectively.
• Answers and responds to emergency calls 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
• Organizes and supervises receiving of all SN large equipment in schools to ensure proper
installation meeting all federal, state, and local codes.
• Services and maintains all SN institutional kitchen equipment.
• Performs all electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work associated with kitchen
equipment.
• Annually produces and follows/supervises a preventative maintenance plan of all SN kitchen
equipment.
• Maintains service records for all SN equipment.
• Procures and maintains all state and locally required permits pertaining to SN kitchen equipment
and boilers associated with school kitchens.
• Supervises temporary/contract workers and installers to ensure they:
o Work on and move equipment in a safe and timely manner.
o Drive School System vehicles in a safe manner following all traffic laws during delivery.
o Accurately and completely count and record SNS kitchen equipment inventory forms.
Provide equipment preventive maintenance as directed and scheduled.
• Completes records, reports and purchasing documents as required.
• Attends training and professional development opportunities.
• Adheres to all health and safety policies.
• Lift, carry, and/or push and pull 50+ lbs. on a frequent basis
• Walk & stand on cement floor for extended periods
• Climb ladder, stoop, bend, twist, turn, lift, and have hands in water
• Work extended periods in temperatures ranging from extremely hot to sub-zero
• Work in and around dust, fumes, and odors in a noisy, crowded environment
• Handle chemicals including but not limited to industrial refrigerant and caustic cleaning in
solution, aerosol, and powder forms
• Repair equipment that poses possible risk, loss, or injury
• Drive maintenance vehicle and 24-foot delivery truck
• Adheres to all health and safety policies
• Works with SN Procurement Specialist to maintain and update equipment specifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Georgia Department of Labor Safety Engineering – Class II & III-1 Boiler Installation,
Maintenance & Svc
• 3 successful years in maintenance and supervision of institutional kitchen equipment, 7 years
preferred
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, self-discipline, computer data entry
• Works independently with minimal supervision
• Environmental Protection Agency Certification for Refrigerant Recovery – Section 609 EPA;
Environmental Protection Agency HVAC Technician Certification; Type Universal in compliance with
EPA Clean Air Act 608
• Georgia State Electrical license preferred
• ServSafe Certification
• Georgia Driver’s License, CDL preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Regular sitting, standing, walking, stooping, and/or kneeling
• Lifting and/or moving items up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds with
assistance
• Pushing, pulling, and/or reaching overhead
• Ability to work in varied environments and weather conditions to include heat, cold, high
humidity
